Hamm's Beer. MillerCoors Brewing Company Milwaukee, WI.

“America's classic premium beer. Born in the land of the sky blue waters.” “Brewed since 1865.”

This is one of those massed produced macros that has a reputation for being cheap and cheaply made. However, cheap beer doesn't always mean the beer will be bad. Having said that one of my personal favorite macro beers is Miller High Life. Hamm's beer has been around for many, many years. What's the difference now, you may ask? Well, I don't know. Perhaps back in the day Hamm's tasted much different. I've met a few old timers who loved Hamm's beer and swear it tasted nothing like it does today.

Pours a golden yellow color. The head was about four fingers high that dissipated to about a finger high with ample carbonation. There is some lacing left around the sides of the glass as the beer is consumed but as you start to finish the beer the lacing disappears. The smell is of pale malts, slightly sweet, touch of citrus perhaps. Taste isn't much to brag about. While there's a faint hint of barley, some corn adjunct is noticeable. This beer isn't bitter and little hops is present. Hamm's is very smooth, drinkable and watery. At 4.70% alcohol by volume (ABV) and 144 calories per 12oz serving, it's not the worst beer I've had. Hey, the taste is much like a Coors Light but better on the head and lacing.
