About The Beer Gourmand, An amateur's guide to beer.

Our Goal

The goal of The Beer Gourmand, An amateur's guide to beer, is to rate beers available to people in the most places. Chances are that if you have seen a beer rated on here you can buy it in your area. Thus, keeping in mind the amateur. Certainly beer clubs and other websites exist where you can purchase exotic and rare beers online that you cannot find in your area. Occasionally, beeralelager.com will provide you a rating on a rare or exotic brew.

There are a few beers reviewed in here that it seems the brewer's only concern is about the bottom line and could care little about the quality or the taste of their product. Most of those beers that lack quality usually have a high alcohol content rating prominently displayed on the can. (Click here for an example) To a beer gourmand it's not about the alcohol content, it's all about the taste. The alcohol content is a nice extra but, it shouldn't be the only thing a beer has going for it. If it is, you are probably better off skipping it or not drinking at all. Those beers aren't for the consumers who enjoy a good quality beer. Those beers are for people who want to get drunk and quick. It is truly sad because those beers, if tried by someone interested in the taste of beer, will have them hating beer. They may never want to try another beer again.

About the design.

While we are not perfect, we wanted a design that is aesthetically appeasing. We also wanted to make sure that this site was compatible with many different browsers and smart phones. What you see here is a balance of the two. It can seem like an impossible feat to have a site that not only looks good, functions well and has relevant information. That is one of our goals here. To provide a site that not only looks good but functions well and with relevant information. We are constantly making minor adjustments and tweaks to meet that goal. Don't hesitate to contact us either if you have a question.

Cheers!
Sincerely, Josh AKA The Beer Gourmand.
